Our first stool maker group.
This week we had our first stool making group, albeit a small one of just two people. Using some of funding from the National Lottery Community Fund we bought the tools needed to facilitate this activity. I’m not going to use the real names of the people in the group(lets call them Peter and Mary).
Mary had not used an axe until yesterday but quite quickly gained the confidence to do so along with a drawknife, auger bit and smoothing plane, by the end of the day went home with a rather lovely and very solid little stool and a justifiable sense of achievement.
Peter has more time and will be back next week so has started carving his stool using an adze and travisher, along with the axe and drawer knife he’s getting to use a wide range of hand tools, next week we’ll get get him on the pole lathe to turn his stool legs.
